Nifty Needleworkers

This group began as knitters who got together to both teach and learn from one another. It started in February, 2008, during school vacation, when several of the knitters brought their daughters or granddaughters and called themselves the Knifty Knitters.  Now, the number of participants ranges from 9 to 19. It is an informal and welcoming group which has become close-knit.

In 2009 the group decided to welcome members who also crochet, embroider, quilt, etc., and therefore renamed itself as the Nifty Needleworkers. In fact, one participant brought in a child’s rocker that she was caning. Sometimes the group has a speaker attend, among these a local woman who owns an alpaca farm and knit shop  to discuss spinning the alpaca fur into knitting yarn, and a woman who makes wreaths and taught the group how to make them for a library fundraiser.

Generally, when the Nifty Needleworkers get together they discuss everything from A to Z and have a good time doing it. Sometimes they go out together for lunch. The BPL provides a place in the community for patrons with similar interests to meet one another. This program is free and open to both genders of all ages.  The Nifty Needleworkers meet every Tuesday 10:30 AM.
